Following the death of her husband in 2011, Joyce lived at Evergreen Place in Renton and Village Green in Federal Way before moving in with family. Joyce's beautiful paintings and printed cards are displayed in many homes. Her natural talent was developed with lessons. Joyce began watercolor painting in her late sixties. Joyce's church friends, new and long time, young and old, were highly valued. After moving to Federal Way she enjoyed attending Lakeland Bible Church. She especially liked teaching and working with the young children. Joyce's faith was very important to her and she was one of the earliest members of St. Joyce resumed her teaching career at Highlands Preschool where she made life-long friends. Joyce, Bill and their three children, Bill Jr., Lisl and Gene built many treasured memories in their homes in Renton and on fun family vacations. The newlyweds lived in the University district while Bill finished his studies at UW and then moved to Renton where she lived for the next 60 years. She taught elementary school for a short time until marrying William L. Joyce graduated from Highline High and Central Washington State College. Her love of people was evident early on as she enjoyed so much her younger brother, Jack, and several relatives who came for extended visits. Joyce was born in Seattle, WA to loving parents, Merlin and Bessie Bonathan.
